Multiple Terrorist Doctrine– Tactics of Terrorists in Mass Hostage Sieges John Giduck, J.D., M.A., is the president of the Archangel Anti-Terror Group, recognized international terrorism expert and author of “Terror at Beslan: A Russian Tragedy with Lessons for America’s Schools.” He speaks around the country on the Beslan School siege in Russia, in addition to providing tactical and multiple terrorist doctrine training to American SWAT teams. He serves as a Special Forces hand to hand combat and firearms instructor. Findings By Russian Commission Investigating Beslan Yuri Ferdigalov is a decorated war veteran of the elite Soviet GRU Spetsnaz. A Marine College graduate he led joint operations between Soviet Army and Naval Commandos. After responding to the Beslan School siege, he completed two additional trips to Russia to conduct debriefings of the Spetsnaz assault team members and leaders for the book “Terror at Beslan,” in which is featured. The Changing Face of Al Qaeda and its Current Threat to America Dr. Rohan Gunaratna is the preeminent world expert on al Qaeda and Usama bin Laden. He is the head of the International Center for Political Violence and Terrorism Research, Institute of Defense and Strategic Studies in Indonesia, among countless other high clearance positions in other nations. He is the author of ten books on terrorism, including the bestselling “Inside Al Qaeda: Global Network of Terror.” School Siege Training Exercises This joint presentation will provide critical information on organizing and conducting school siege training exercises and the most important lessons learned for American SWAT teams from the largest exercises yet held in the U.S. Sgt. Chris Zeigler is a former Marine who started his law enforcement career in 1995 with the City of Montgomery Police Department, in Alabama. He worked there for four years before leaving to work for the Elmore County Sheriff’s Department, where he heads the Special Operations Unit. In August 2005, Sgt. Zeigler organized and held the largest anti-terror school siege exercise in the country, encompassing a total of 30 local, state, and federal agencies. Joe Bail is a 30 plus year veteran of law enforcement. He is the SWAT commander of the Chester, PA police department, head of narcotics, and developed that agency’s tactical unit and combat dive teams. Sgt. Bail has provided his tactical units with crucial training in counter-terror tactics and was the only American police officer to travel to Russia to participate in debriefings of Russian special forces on the Beslan School siege. He has had several articles published on terrorism related topics and participated as an evaluator for Homeland Security funded exercises based on the Beslan incident. Preparing for the Inevitable – What All of America Must Be Ready for Now Lt. Col. Joe Ruffini (ret.) is a 20 year veteran of the U.S. Army, becoming one of the military’s top counter-terror and national defense experts. He has continued to serve as a top consultant and trainer for DoD throughout the U.S., including service at NORAD and STRATCOM. He is the founder of the defense and security consulting firm JPR and Associates and author of a completed book providing critical terrorism information to America’s citizenry. Terrorist Hostage Negotiations – Revamping Traditional American Barricade Negotiation Techniques to Deal with International Terrorist Sieges Major Konstantin Komarov is a retired Russian Special Forces officer, having served with both GRU and elite MVD Spetsnaz units, and is a decorated war veteran. He holds a Ph.D. in Psychology, and continues to provide training and consulting services to various Russian military and Spetsnaz units. He was integrally involved in the development of Russia’s counter-terror tactics, including its terrorist-hostage negotiation techniques. Major Komarov has served as the principal negotiator in numerous terrorist-hostage sieges, and was part of the negotiating team at the Nord Ost Theater siege in Moscow in October 2002, where he developed psychological profiles on the identified terrorists, among his other duties. Chechen Terrorism – The Greatest Unrecognized Threat to America Colonel Sergey Gritsenko is a twenty-plus year veteran of Russia’s elite Spetsnaz, currently serving as commander of the Lynx Division of the MVD’s Spetsnaz Sobr Rapid Reaction Force based in Moscow. He is a native of Chechnya, and has served in both Chechen Wars. He is a decorated war veteran and was a team leader in the Nord Ost Theater siege assault in October 2002. Col. Gritsenko is an internationally recognized terrorism expert and consultant. John James is a twenty–plus year veteran of the U. S. Army Infantry, a combat veteran, Drill Instructor and Airborne Instructor. He is the Graduate of numerous terrorism related courses. Maj. James is currently CENTCOM’s Chief Force Protection Officer (CFC-A CJ3) in charge of U.S. security for all U.S. military bases and camps in Afghanistan, Uzbekistan, Kyrgyzstan, Pakistan, and Tajikistan. Mr. Jones was an Army Ranger, and was active in Colorado’s counter-narcotics program as the Military Intelligence Detachment NCO in charge for the 19 th Special Forces Group (Airborne). In addition to recent work in Afghanistan, Mr. Jones has operational experience in more than 20 countries, and on 5 continents. Terrorist Weapons and Tactics Llew Rowe is a 30 year law enforcement officer and has been a tactical instructor in a number of critical skills. Currently he is the Connecticut State Police Academy Training NCO where he serves as the counter-terror specialist and instructor, teaching Terrorist Weapons and Tactics, among other subjects. Sgt. Rowe has trained law enforcement across the United States and is a nationally recognized counter-terror expert. |
